TEACHING

I believe that music should be accessible to everyone and regardless of their chosen career path every student should have the chance to study with someone who will nuture their growth and help them achieve their goals. Every lesson is tailored to the student's needs and while every student is required to master various technical aspects of the instrument they will also learn the artistry of being a musician. I encourage each student to listen to recordings to gain a better perspective on various playing styles in hopes that they will be able to find a voice of their own. Through their lessons I hope that my students not only learn vaulable skills that they can transfer into musical careers but also skills that will help them in their daily lives. Former students have been featured as soloists with the New Mexico Philharmonic, been selected for New Mexico All State bands and orchestras, and the Albuquerque Youth Symphony. They have also received superior ratings at solo and ensemble and been accepted with scholarship to the University of New Mexico, Brigham Young University, and Utah State University.

This fall I will begin teaching in and around Austin, TX at Leander High School and Running Brushy Middle School. If you are a not a student at one of these schools please don't hesitate to contact me about lessons. Skype lessons are also available. Rates are dependent on the length of lessons. Handmade reeds can be purchased from me as well. Without a good working reed the student will not be able to properly play their instrument so I highly recommend purchasing my reeds instead of store bought.
